These three have pipped! And one of them is the one I candled so I'm so happy I didn't screw things up! I was sleeping and I heard a peep and thought no I'm not going to check it's probably my imagination. Then I heard another and decided to at least check humidity and three of them are going! Yay! Also glad I checked I'm using a straw and baby medicine thing to get water in there the humidity was down to 52%

We also have pips, some serama and even some CCL and Lavs in the other cooler!!! YAY go chickies!!!

Shoot! Yay for pips.

I candled last night, I know I said I wouldn't, but anyways I was AMAZED that it seems like all the eggs from the second group have babies in them. So numbers 16-23 have very clear veins. #15 and 24 are maybes. And then we know that 1 and 2 have babies in them. Note I will day the first group was poorly packed and the box was beat up(the 4 ducks came separate) and the second group was better packed and the box was prestine.

No and actually both groups of chickens came from the same person, the first time she says her granddaughter helped her pack them. And u think the USPS want very nice to them either.

So the weather last night was a killer. No matter how much I tried to keep my chicks covered and warm with heat lamps, the wind knocked off the sheet of wood and they all got wet. 20 plus died. ironically I checked in the middle of the storm at about 3 am and they were all good. I'm so depressed. It has been so hard.


On another note,
Sally 3 of the samaras did make it.
They are so tiny and cute. I won't put those out till they are ready to lay.

I received a pack of CHICKEN BONES Candy in the mail from KY. A very cool gift and great gift for me! I love them and WANT TO KNOW who sent them to me!!!!!

I'm so depressed. It has been so hard.


On another note,
Sally 3 of the samaras did make it.
They are so tiny and cute. I won't put those out till they are ready to lay.

I know the feeling I have most of my bird outside all are over 4 weeks and had s heart lack but the rain somehow got in the co-op and pooled under the lamp I lost 7 birds, 3 meats, both buff orps, the last Polish, and one of the striped ones. Needless to say it's a bad day here...

I have done 3 hatches so far this year. Not very good.

Only about 58%. I have tried on all 3 to hatch in the cartons. Probably will lay them down on this next run I'm starting to day.

The thing is after day 14 candling they are ALL moving. So it seems like it's something to do when I lock them down. And the ones that are hatching are random all over. So it's not just in the back or middle or front. You know what i mean. It seems like when they start hatching, what ever day it is, if they don't all hatch the other eggs won't hatch after that day.

And they are still hatching early. This last run I even put the temp down 1 degree. I might try with the next run to lower it even one more degree. I have an endless supply of eggs. So I can experiment. Does cost me anything. lol. Humidity during the first 18 days about 43% and lock down I can get it up to 69%.

Any ideas on lock down.
