These eggs were in the new bator a week before hatch! so far so good!
We have 3 Lavs and a female CCL out!!
and the serama are popping out like popcorn several more to go!
Always a wonderful hatch from Harmonys eggies!!
NestingHillsSC, do you have any idea what would cause a chick to be fully developed and ready to hatch but not of soaked up the yolk sac and end up dying? It blows my mind and scares me all of the things that can go wrong at the last minute after you've done every thing right for 21 days (an excruciating wait). I think I'm on day 10 of my first batch ever and wondering whatever possessed me to think I could do this! Sorry you lost your babies.
Tony this chick you speak of came out of the shell unassisted? I have only seen one come out on its own with a broken sack. We do see this alot with assists and then the chick is released way too soon and hasnt had its time to rest and absorb the 12/24 hours after it externally pips. I have heard that high heat can also cause yolk issues. you know the break out anaylsis links are in the 101 article.
sonoralinda! dont panic, you can only read and re read to make sure you do what needs done to the best of your ability! This is to be fun and such an amazing process! try to enjoy and not stress!
