Quote: Sally, on 4/28 you posted on my board that they were hatching, 2 were out and working on 1. So, they probably hatched on 4/27?
I had to quote it all lol so I could guess at timeline, these are being later obviously. lol

I dont know whats going on, everytime I quote it keeps tacking the same quote onto my next quote! even though I already quoted on it!

hmmm figure that statement out!! ha ha ha

I just candled the 3 remaining eggs under my girl. 1 that had the yellow glow at the bottom has quit. The other 2 are solid dark all of the way down, big aircells, draw down on one and that one I can see the body pushing up into the air cell. I am so stinking nervous. Part of me wants to intervene, but since I've had no luck with them I better just let her do her thing. I will be candling in the morning though, I'm sure the one will pip soon.

how many you put under her? and these were theirs not?

Yeah, she did it all herself. She laid 7 and then started setting. 1 she pushed out early on and broke it in the hut. Now there's 2.

OMG! Guess what! I have 10 external pips. 6 more internal and the rest are squirming. The first to externally pip was the one I dented! The one with the yellow is close to internal pip. And the one I dropped is trying. It's she cell is almost fully detached. Im worried I may have to help.

if your house is 60% how is the bator 15? your confusing me woman!

You beat me to this.

While it is possible to have an ambient humidity of 60% and an incubator humidity of 15%, most of us dont set our room temps to such levels.

The relative humidity will drop by a factor of 2 for each 20 °F or 10 °C increase in temperature.

Your room would have to be set at 60oF with an ambient humidity of 60% with the 40oF difference in the temp inside your incubator to that outside your bator to get a relative humidity in your incubator of 15%

no change on my ducks, the other cooler is now locked down with wfbs and brahma to hatch this weekend as the wfbs are close to pipping

12-24 depends when I want to hatch, although ducks do their own timing lol

if they are shipped and have issues with air cells movements, refer to the hatching 101 article and treat each egg as it presents to you.

what breed did you order?

I have wfbs trying to hatch early! uggggg they are to hatch sunday for shipment monday the brats!!!!! Cabinet must have been warmer with the added humidity, DOH no brainer Sal too much on my mind lately!!!

Sally I have this on a lot of my eggs but only the shipped eggs. They have been incubated in the same conditions as home eggs who were not affected. They also have huge air cells so I've been chalking it up to a shipped egg thing. I dry incubate and other then about 24 hours mid way through, the RH has been <20%. I'll see if I can get some pics tonight.

An update for anyone interested. I tried, but never got decent pics of the large fluid sacks in the pointy ends. The hatch went as all of my shipped egg hatches have so far: 3 chicks out of 16 eggs. Here's how it broke down:

-received 16 well packed, none broken, most air cells detached
-pulled 4 for blood rings before day 14, 12 to LD
-all but 3 died in LD, never even internally pipped
-3 out, all assisted, all with tough dry membranes, all small and less then feisty, all egg shells yucky with big veins and lots of extra junk
-4 eggtopsied so far: one without a skull, one turned and ready with what seemed like ruptured yolk sack, one malpositioned and no yolk absorbed, one well positioned with no yolk absorbed; all seemed shrink wrapped in addition to other issues

So burnt on incubating. Trying to figure out if this is "normal" for shipped eggs or if I'm messing them up. My rate for home eggs is 79% in the incubator with three documented lockdown losses so I'm inclined to think I'm doing something.

Quote: what a hatch woman! holy molasses!! can I ask if you have an image of your air cells to start before set?

if air cells are detatched and BAD your out of luck period, curious as to age of eggs, and seeing the air cells at start help me guess at age.
