not sure what to tell you! is it that humid there? are you running dehimidifier?
Humidity here is generally about 40-50 %...NO dehumidifier
The humidity in bator since the air cells were small... no water has been 27%.
At day 18 they lost more weight and the air cells are about 1/8 inch bigger. than a few days ago. Not to the % they should but closer.550 would have been 13% and they are 580 down from 635 at the start So lost 55 Km. total.

They total have gained about 1/4 inch in air cell from earlier week ago or so Guess that will have to do Still not where they should be but about half way between normal and small by the pictures on BYC..Hope i didnt kill them trying to shrink the air cell smaller the last week or 10 days by not adding any water but the humidity is still 27.
I had been keeping it about 30-35.
Thing is i never have wet chicks or big bellys or anything too much water seems to bring.
.I have a couple eggs every hatch it seems that have to be helped almost every hatch.... most of those have one bad foot or leg.
Id leave them in the shell not help except i get that few who are fine after.
Only squishy wet chick i had that died in shell was once i tried to run humidity at 45..didnt work.
Last hatch ran between 20 and 25 humidity 99.5 temp
Hatched one chick
one egg was infertile
All the rest about 10... had well developed chicks in them
one was malpositioned ready to hatch upside down Maybe even too big .
Others all died toward the end.
NOW day 19 on this hatch so Monday will see how this worked.

And Thanks for all the help guys..!!..

I just lost one that had only lost 11% since it was set. It was under a hen, the three others with it hatched fine, so I think this egg had a defect or too thick a shell?

Cas so many things can go wrong Just natures way to not let defective chicks hatch too often.Could be those things or some other internal thing within the chick.

Quote: I run my cabinet cooler dry and have since I made it. Range 20 to and the past three weeks its been 30-40 then I add humidity at draw down in the hatcher, so I wouldnt panic yet.

I know it sounds like it defies everthing you read, but if your room humidity is high you dont need to add any its already there, all you can do is watch the cells and make sure they dont loose too much, or else you need to start up a dehumidifier like I have running now.

Quote: FWIW, the chick was alive until yesterday when the others hatched. All others lost 15-18%, but this one only lost 11%.
