I just used a little led flashlight. Works well enough to see movement and veining. I could still see them moving at day 18 but they were mostly dark.

https://www.backyardchickens.com/t/708343/share-what-candler-you-use-or-made-to-see-dark-eggs-please I just started this thread to see what everyone is using if u wanna follow and see what we come up with!!So what works to candle darker eggs? I have some medium-brown layers, and IF THEY EVER START TO LAY, THE SLACKERS, dark brown, too, and blue/green/olive. My LED flashlight lights up white eggs in total darkness, but doesn't work on the others.

NO response by email in regards to all the red silkie eggs being infertile! tomorrow I will cull the four left and see FOR sure, but I can tell they arent bad eggs or quitters, they just aint done nuttin!!! It has to be THEIR ROO!! why else would it be just the REDS and not the BLUES!!! uggggg NEVER again will I buy from them at this point, why dont they email me back!!![]()

I finally sent a more "interesting" email and even pics of the unfertile eggs ALL RED SILKIE Eggs and this was the response......Funny, I had the same response of no response from them also regarding eggs being infertile.
Not to knock them as I have never personally ordered from them, but my kid's school did one year as they hatch chicken eggs in the kindergarden classes every year and they ended up having to go out and buy chicks as less than 10% hatched.... but no egg sellers are going to guarantee hatching or fertility. When I was researching hatching eggs, it seemed like the best thing you can do is find a breeder as close to you as possible (driving distance is ideal) if not then within 1 or 2 states from you. I even considered driving from southern california to northern california for hatching eggs (a drive of 6-8 hours) because I've read so many sad stories about hatching shipped eggs on these forums while I got up the nerve to do it.I finally sent a more "interesting" email and even pics of the unfertile eggs ALL RED SILKIE Eggs and this was the response......
Thanks for contacting My Pet Chicken with your concern.
We have not had fertility issues when hatching our eggs--it may be that the eggs were damaged in route, got too hot or cold in the box, or exposed to incorrect temperatures during incubation...
NOTE: NEVER purchase from MyPet Chicken again, Got it!
Another thing, I don't believe (but I could be wrong) that MyPetChicken has their own eggs- I think they get them from other breeders they are more like a broker (if someone knows otherwise let me know as I don't want to be spreading false info)Funny, I had the same response of no response from them also regarding eggs being infertile.
