So you have 11 that made it to lockdown? Did your own additions make it too? THAT ROCKS!!! And you turned right away when you set them? That is so awesome, it seems most of mine were scrambled and those that werent were infert : ( ..Hello everyone.I have been trying to keep up with this thread from the start but really haven't had time.I set down last night and read the entire thread, yes I was up late..LOL.I am trying again to hatch shipped eggs and so far am having better luck with these.I just went into lock-down and they are set to hatch Tuesday, the 19th.I have a hova-bater with turner and fan kit.I try to keep the temp at 99.5 right at egg level.I do dry hatches only adding water the last 3 days to bring my humidity up to around 60 percent.I started with 8 seramas and 15 u'ccles. All of the seramas had some aircell detachment.About half the u'ccles did. They all were packed really well and the u'ccles were packed big end up with the box marked "this side up".I un-packed them and put them in a egg carton for 12 hours before setting them in my incurbator.I had the turner running.I set 3 of my own EE eggs with them just in case only one or two of the shipped ones hatched.Of the 8 seramas,6 started, the other 2 had blood rings at day 4.The u'ccles had 10 of the 15 start.3 of those had blood rings and 2 were clear. When I candled on day 14 ,2 of the seramas had quit,1 around day 10 and 1 around day 5.The 10 u'ccles still looked OK.I candled again yesterday and saw movement in the 4 remaining seramas and 7 of the 10 remaining u'ccles.I turned the turner off on day 16 as I have read some of the smaller birds can hatch early.I am so excited that I may get some of these to hatch. The u'ccles came from OK so that was a long trip, the others from Virgina.I have spent too much money to even addmit on shipped eggs and have never had one hatch. Some started and some made it to within a day or two of hatching and quit.I have tried chickens, regular size and bantams and turkeys. Some were shipped fairly close and some not so close.I hatch my own chickens and turkeys all the time and have excellent results.I have learned so much reading this thread and others about hatching shipped eggs.I know from reading that people do hatch shipped eggs and so I just keep on trying to prove to myself i can do it too.I hope everyone trying to hatch this round has some success. It is just so thrilling knowing how far these little things traveled to me and still grow into little chicks that look like they might hatch.(I'm still trying not to jinx myself by counting my chicks before they pip)Thanks, everyone, for sharing your experiences,it is so helpful to those of us trying so hard to make this happen.I am so looking forward to seeing pictures of all these miracle babies. Thanks for letting me share.
I cant wait to see fuzzy butts!! Thank so much for sharing!!! fingers crossed!!! Cant wait!!!
