Unfortunately I don't have anyone that will be available...I would totally skip it but I volunteer at a local marine center working with sea turtles...hatchlings of another kind altogether, lol. AND we just got a new patient in earlier this week so I have to go!!! It isn't until Wed afternoon so hopefully by then everything will be stable. I am figuring if things in there aren't stable by then I have a serious problem, lol.

Thats to bad but only half a day you should be ok .GOOD LUCK!!

SS, I've been told by lots of people that turkeys are hard to hatch and so far that's proven true for me. Argh! Duck eggs are easier though...but they need lots of humidity so you might want to incubate them separately from chicken eggs. Dang little quackers are adorable!!!! I have some colored Muscovies that are almost grown, and 6 Khaki Campbell babies. Have some Muscovy and Pekin eggs coming soon. Ducks are super messy but aside from that, completely awesome!

What colors are the scovy?? YAYAYYA more hatching ideas!!! lol ADDICTED!!!

Hey Everyone!
Just getting ready for my first lockdown tomorrow and wondering if anyone has tips/advice? I'm planning to do temp 99.5, humidity 70%. The eggs have been incubating in a HB forced air but I'm going to transfer them to a Top Hatch THI30 for hatching since it'l be easier cleanup and better viewing. Also planning to have them in egg cartons after seeing several of you guys doing that...should I definitely cut out the bottom of the carton cups to allow air flow? Not sure if this is necessary for just the last few days. Candled my eggs today and am trying not to feel super nervous, they are so dark now that I can't really see movement anymore, hoping that is normal but I know some may have quit and I won't know until they don't emerge. Also some have what seem to be sort of large air cells, even though humidity has been in the 40% range. I guess I will just have to wait and see what happens...

Since I set them in the afternoon on 9/7, I wasn't going to put them into lockdown until later in the day tomorrow. Also I'll be at the office all day so I didn't want to set them in lockdown and then leave the house just in case any adjustments are necessary. I'm assuming since they were set later in the day that going into lockdown at around the same time of day makes sense but I don't know...
This is stressful! Anyone have more cute chick pics to distract/motivate me???

Yes I hope u cut the bottoms out, oxygen!!! I couldnt see Halo move either at 18. I raised my humidity to because large aircell, but it went out of control as he was hatching up in the high 70's!!! but he is well and the 7 BCM eggs are alive, day 14 for them today!

How many made it to lockdown???

sorry I have been so busy with vet and puppies and making another brooder and not to mention a zillion kids!!! sighhhhhh

Sally the splash are reall y pretty My BBS orp eggs only one hatched 8 or 9 weeks ago and it was black.....i wanted blue or splash and LEAST .... black in that order....BUt now he is so pretty a blue sheen to his feathers at 6 weeks.
Also bought Silver Laced Brahma eggs on an auction. .Paid a lot ....only 3 of 12 hatched but i was thrilled it was 3 and not zero!!

Ask ppl on here if its some throw back but they said no just got a Gold Laced egg in with the Silver or a split
I dont mind as i was going to get gold lace sometime anyway but stuff happens.... Little suprise to me..
