I went to the grocery store today and bought 2 simple mercury thermometers with a 25-200 C range and put them in my incubator. I don't like what I see. My digital thermometer says its at 37.2 C, while my new one says its only at 32 C...

I decided to replace the battery in the digital one and apparently that helped a LOT. Now they are only 1/2 degree C apart. But the temps keep spiking...

Sparkey we need to get you a thermostat to wire up to your light so it goes on and off as needed, and you install the thermostat aprox 1" away from the light bulb... its easy to wire

This is what I ordered from EBAY last week..... I will post pics as Harmony and Daddy are still working on their new bator!!!

SPARKEY have a look at this thread.... and if you dont like reading that much watch the videos ( but we are using the hot water thermostat instead of the big round one.....)

https://www.backyardchickens.com/t/8510/chic-chick-bator-updated Following are those videos! but instead of wafer we used the hot water heater thermostat and placed it an inch away from the installed bulb....

Uggg.... the hot water thermostat has been moved closer the light but still have 2+ degree variance! so I just ordered a $20. wafer thermostat w/ assembly!
