Diatomaceous earth questions

So I picked some up today from Ace and I am worried about using it. It was in their pool section? Is that where it should be?

Mwilliams, I think you got ripped. The stuff that is used in pool applications is usually heated up so hot that it loses those sharp edges, the ones that kill the bugs and such. And from what I understand, it's entire constitution becomes changed as well and believe it is not to be ingested.

Go to the feed store and get the real stuff. Food grade DE. Sorry.

Do not use the DE from the pool section it's had chemicals added. It will still
Kill bugs but it'll also kill
Your quail or anything else. Make sure what u get is the food grade DE it'll say it on the bag. The stuff I use is red lake earth

Thanks for the help. I'm going to return it tomorrow and run out to my feed store to see what they have.
