Dickey vs Sportsman incubator

I always heard the Dickey works very well. We have 2 Sportsman's and they work better than great! You might want to look at spare parts price and availiblty? For our sportsman I keep an extra fan motor, turner motor, heating element, and temp control on hand.

you could put all those parts into a box and have a spare bator..

I have some of both, 5 sportsmans and 3 Dickeys. I think they both work great. I do not have a brand new Dickey but I do have two new sportsmans. If you get the new Dickey with the electronic thermostate installed and the clear door (both extra) I do not see much of a price differance. They are both great incubators in my opinion. The only small complaint I have with the new sportsman bators is they have gone to push button instead of toggle switches to stop the rotation of the trays and level them up. Sometimes the buttons stick and you have to pry them out and put them back in. No biggie, but a little aggravating. I do absolutly love the digital command center. It tells the humidity and temp. in digital readout constantly. Also an alarm will go off and alert you if anything goes wrong, as in power failure, temp off bad, that sort of thing. So far this has not happened. I don't think you could go wrong with which ever one you choose. Both are great incubators.

AS far as parts go I think all the GQF parts will fit the Dickey. He sends a list with parts and price. He does give a 1 year garantee on his bators.

Those who have recently bought a Dickey - what was the shipping rate? The bator I'm looking at will run about $650 before shipping, which is cheaper than a sportsman.

Thanks,

I'm not sure what the shipping costs, but if you call I'm sure they'll be happy to tell you. I will tell you this, if you do decide to go with the Dickey, you'll never regret it. It's a great incubator.

shipping is included in the price.

Mr. Dickey is available for tech support at almost anytime. i am running my first hatch through mine right now.

the Dickey seemed sturdier and no computer parts to blitz out.

i considered a Sportsman, but am glad that i went with the Dickey.
