Dickey?

Reading this thread makes me:
1. Want to buy the best Bator for the money - Dickey
2. Makes me excited for the new owner
3. Reminds me of Christmas Time
Congratulations! set it up and run it for two days, record temps and humidity ever few hours...add some full bottles of water to simulate volume in the bator, just so you are heating something other than air.
Doing this before the eggs are placed will give you a chance to see how the bator reacts.....

Best is in the eye of the beholder .... but there is no doubt that, $ for $, the Dickey is the one I'd buy.

Best is much more subjective, because on many levels there are incubators that are much better than both of the above.

Kinda depends on what you want.​

Well yes, of course.

If that weren't the case, no one would ever buy a styrofoam incubator.

They are the cheapest, but they are also the herdest to get consistent results from, esp. for beginners.​

I like my LG it has always worked just fine. I just wanted a bigger incubator

They work, they are simply the most difficult types to get to work well. The Sportsman, for example, you will find MUCH easier to use.

Best incubator for the money does not say that it is the absolute best in the world. Just that it is the best for the money. We all know that a Dickey is probably not the best in the world, but I don't have a couple 10 grand to put into a bator, and I am flippin excited to get my Dickey! And excited for everyone else to get theirs also!

I didn't get the Dickey because it was less expensive that the Sportsman. I got it because I think it is a much better made incubator than the Sportsman. I didn't consider any others. I am more than thrilled with my Dickey incubator and hatcher, and I know many others on this forum are also.

I don't plan to argue, you obviously have your opinion, that does look like a nice bator, although I'm sure it's also not the best in the world. And you need to research your pricing a bit. If you add in all the extras and make the two the same, the ova-easy is around the same price as the dickey, maybe a tad bit cheaper, but you have to put it together.
I will enjoy my Dickey and my homemade dickey wanna be. I don't care if its a styrofoam cooler, as long as it hatches out chicks, I'm happy.

The Dickey does have another advantage over the competition and that is Customer Service....when you call up Dickey Incubator you get the owner, the guy who built it, the guy how's last name is the product, the man who offers the warranty....call up the competition and who or what do you talk to?
All Cabinet Incubators have the plus's and negatives...the good thing is that there are people out here that enjoy the hobby so much that incubating 40 eggs just doesn't cut it.
