Nellie - what time zone are you in? I'm betting you have a pip by 9 p.m.

and dont really have the space for them. Its funny how it all works out.

Oh how well I know what you mean! I just spent a fortune building a coop big enough for 15 even though I only plan to keep 6-8. I'm sure if the coop was nowhere near ready, I'd have chicks coming out of my ears right now. HAHAHAHAHA

What's that line about counting your chickens before they hatch?????

I also have two little ones who have been along side me the last three weeks. My 6 year old is an expert candler. I will be so bummed if they don't get to watch a couple hatch.

I'm planning on having chickens one way or another, so it doesn't reallllly matter, but we've put in so much time and love so far.

I'm sure that I'll get something....it's just the waiting that's killing me.

Eastern. It's 6:20 right now.

Great! Have you heard any cheeping/chirping from the incubator yet? Seen any rocking? I have barely gotten anything done today between staring at the incubator and the chicks... I just realized it is getting dark out.

I just candled (because I am a compulsive candler) because I knew some of the eggs still left in the bator were iffy at lockdown. It looks like four are goners but there were two with movement!

I haven't heard anything. Would it really be loud enough through a shell and incubator that I would notice????

I swear I see some teeny tiny wiggling in a couple of them, but I've convinced myself that it's probably just my eyes wiggling.

I think I'm just going to go to bed and

that I wake up to something.

Good luck Nellie! I really hope your chicks do all the right things soon.

Mine hatched, and I put them in the brooder, but the second one to hatch started feeling cooler when I handled it, so I put them back in the incubator. It seems happier now. We had family and friends over when the second chick zipped and hatched, so we all got to enjoy it.

They seem to be constantly wrestling, each trying to persuade the other one that it is really the mother, and that they should be allowed to snuggle underneath.

Nothing. I'm totally depressed right now.

My temps and humidity are holding steady and I am resisting the urge to open the incubator to candle.

Is it possible I killed ALL of them? If I didn't kill them, is it possible that I wouldn't hear or see ANYTHING?
