Did anyone set eggs on June 9th? Wanna hatch with me?

I went to my local breeder a few weeks ago and he took me to the incubator to pick out some cochin babies...and there was a little quail in there - oh they are the tiniest little things! And fast as lightning!

We have California Quail wild on our property. I love watching the little chicks ...they are so cute...We call them the "Bob Chicks" because of how the move.

Had the most peculiar thing in the quitter egg we removed last night.
I always get hubby to check them because I want to know I made the right choice but don`t want to see...He called me to look at this one. From candelling we knew it was quite pourous and had an extremely large air sac for the 9 days of development. Also there was a thickened area on the inside of the small end of the egg. Could this be a calcium concentrated area? The egg felt kind of funny after day 4 of turning...bottom heavy which I guess is explained by the large air sac. The chick looks like it quit on about day 5. I am just curious if anyone has seen this.

Welcome Verygoodchicks!!
I have to say I am jealous. I have soo many breeds (some I inherited) and the Welsummer's and Marans are the two breeds I am interested in the most! Where in the world are you from? And, where did you get the Welsummer eggs? We started our incubator for the first time on the 6th, very anxious also!!!

I candled and all 6 are forming.

The test run with the new incubator seems to be progressing smoothly.

Wife: "I told you to leave them alone!"

Me: "...I had to be sure..."

So cold...yet so:

I set 14 eggs under two broodies on the ninth.

One bantan (silke/mille fleur) and one black brahma.
The eggs are mutts, from BR, faverolles, black brahma and gold brahma under faverolles and brahma roos. Most of the parents were killed, so I'm hoping there's a few purebreds in there. Already hatched one batch of them. These eggs are on the older side, but fingers crossed!

Call them Auracanas here in the UK, all 13 have veins and movement in but worried about 2 of them as they have trefoil shaped air cells. Has anyone ever seen this before or even heard of it
