Did I accidentally get all male Barred Rocks?

11 weeks old!

I've been letting them free range in the mornings while I do chores. Today I let them out in the evening while we grilled dinner and ate on our porch. I was quite tickled when after dinner I went to put them back and I found they had put themselves to bed already!

They are such cool looking chickens! I really do think they are some sort of Eggers. Cant wait to see what they actually lay!

I agree! I have taken to just calling them Easter Eggers.

I do wish they were a bit more friendly. Thankfully my Australorps are super friendly and these two EEs will follow my Australorps if I'm herding them around. There is no catching them on their own though.

Now just shy of 12 weeks old. They are free ranging from about 8 am to 5pm every day now, which they are loving. On days I don't let them out due to either weather or my own schedule, they stand at the door to their run letting me know their displeasure.

Marmalade:

I so rarely get pictures of the other Easter Egger, Toast. She does not like getting near me, even if the other girls are near me. Marmalade tolerates being near me if the other girls are near, and while she can touch me, I'm not allowed to touch her.

And my favorite of my Aussie girls, Camilla:

I have to be careful around her now as she really, really loves to jump up on my shoulder. She got me in the eye about a week ago. Quick trip to immediate care, getting my eye flushed out, and we won't be doing that any more. She doesn't particularly like being held, so now I am trying to train them all to jump on this stump for pets.

Our question has finally been answered!

At least one of them is an Olive Egger, I think it's Marmalade, the lighter colored of the two.

And I am not saying she is super smart, but I was pretty tickled pink when I found the egg in the nesting box, and not somewhere else in the coop or run.

Here are the two mystery hens next to each other. Now just shy of 18 weeks. Not going to lie, their combs weird me out a little bit, but how human their eyes are have always weirded me out! At least they are now turning into nice hens. They let me pet them at least. I am not sure if that is because they are reaching sexual maturity, or if the confinement and being around me more has changed their opinion.

I called Marmalade an Olive Egger on FB and was immediately told she is a Sapphire Sky.

But to refer back to the title of the thread: not Barred Rocks, and not all males! (Obviously you figured that out quite a while ago. But seeing the title reminded me of it again.)

I'm actually pretty excited that I didn't get Barred Rocks now. I definitely had some moments of regret when I was chasing them around the yard trying to get them back in their enclosure and chasing them out of the neighbor's yard too...but now I won't have just all brown eggs.
