Hello chicken friends! In CT here with my 6 hens. Today is beautiful, so i let them out to poke around. I feel like i seen a small worm in my chickens dropping!! 😳Upon through investigation of the dropping, i didnt see it. Doesnt mean it wasnt there, but, is there a chance it was? If so, i will monitor the droppings moving forward, but, if it was a worm, what is your advice on moving forward to treat? Thank you in advance! šŸ“ā¤ļø

Gather a stool sample and find a vet to run a fecal float on it. This is a fool proof way to find out if there are worms in your flock and what kind they are. It's very inexpensive, and the test takes about an hour to do. Just reassure your vet that you will assume responsibility for the treatment plan and they don't need to see the chicken.

Thank you Azygous. I will remember this. I added some acv to their water and will monitor the droppings more. What in your opinion is the most common type of worms that chickens can get? šŸ“ā¤ļø

Round worms. They're a couple inches long and look like string. But you may never see worms in the stool. They may all still be in the chicken. Sometimes you won't even see them after worming, as most worms get absorbed by the intestines. (Yum, protein)
