I really think yall still have a chance. Eggs develope at 85, the low temp may delay hatch slightly and maybe the high spike wasnt long enough to totally affect the inside egg temp. dont give up yet

Walkswithdog, I'll keep my fingers crossed for you!

I should know pretty quick here if the chicks made it or not, at least the Ameraucanas because they should start hatching Wed.

I'll update when I find out. I sure hope at least some of them managed to survive!

WOW!!! 3 of the 17 have pipped tonight and somebody is "singing" in the shell!!!

I really can't believe it - I *still* haven't been able to get the temp in that Little Giant to stabilize - it is either 98 or 102-104 today no matter how extremely gently I try to barely turn the stupid knob - but somehow these little guys have survived enough to pip at least - at least some of them have...

That really is amazing. I'll be SO excited if some of these chicks make it!!! It will be a little chicken miracle!

It really is! I have two live chicks in there looking very healthy and robust now and I have one more almost out and a couple more have pipped - it may turn out to be a decent hatch after all!

I'll let you all know how it turns out - thanks for all your sympathy and consolation!

Well, it looks like the final count is 6 surviving Ameraucana chicks. I started with 24 eggs - 17 developed. At 14 days all 17 looked great.

So, at least it wasn't a complete loss, but I definitely seem to have "done in" quite a lot of my poor chicks.

I'm excited though, one of the 6 that survived is a blue - I have two blue hens already and I *want* a blue rooster, so I am hoping that little one is a boy [how often do we hope for boys?! LOL!]

Thank you all for your help and your sympathy. I am sad that I did something to kill them, but I am so happy at least a few of them made it out alive.

The ones that lived seem especially vigorous - I guess the "strong survived".

I still had 12 of 13 hatch with that batch, so I wouldn't worry too much. As long as it doesn't stay very low or very high for long, it shouldn't be a problem.

Try not to blame yourself about the others not making it. You didn't manufacture the incubator after all. Be sure to post pics when you can.
