That is not a crow in training! It is the egg song and pullets practice it a lot before laying eggs. Later they sing the song each time an egg is laid
Pretty sure I heard this variant (the classic bak-bak-ba-gah) for the first time this afternoon, just before finding another egg (I was away when they laid their first). What I was referring to before, though, is more like one long bloodcurdling screech, repeated ad nauseum, which the Reds and at least one of the Orps basically let rip every time I visit the run. My chicken translator is still in development, so it certainly could be egg song practice but it sounds to me more like an annoyed, "what took you so long with our table scraps" or perhaps "just drop what you got and get the heck out of our space, you good for nothing egg thief".
