Did I make a mistake getting this coop?

Hi all! So I recently got 2 cream legbar pullets and my dad got me this coop for them. As we live in a residential area and don't have a huge backyard he went for a smaller coop. The picture makes it look nice but it is actually quite small to me after getting it and putting it together. Here is the link for the coop so you can see what it looks like and its dimensions.

I live in Florida, so it can get quite hot. I already know I need to add a lot more ventilation as there is just the one window. I will probably add a fan too. They will be out during the day in a large run I'm going to make for them and will free range when I can be out to supervise as we have a pool and, of course, plenty of predators that would love to snag them. So they will only be in the coop to sleep at night and lay eggs. So my question is: will I need to get a bigger coop even though it's only going to be 2 hens and they will only be in at night?

On a side note.... any tips/suggestions for building a run will be greatly appreciated :)

Actually the link does not give any dimensions.....
......oh wait, have to scroll wwwaaaaaaaayyy !

75”(L) x 26”(W) x 46”(H);Slide-Out Tray Dimensions: 22.5”(L) x 22”(W) x 1”(H);

So basically the actual coop (inside) is about 24 x 24", or 4 sqft.
Space for 1 chicken by according to common BYC space minimums.

I have a similar coop for one of my bunnies and it would definitely be tight for even 2 full size hens. If you are planning to make them a bigger run you could just convert this to be just the coop.

Yes, that was my plan. I knew the run would be WAY too small for even one hen. I plan on building a large run as well as allowing time to free range and only have them in the coop at night to keep them safe while they sleep. I was hoping by doing that I could get away with keeping this one :oops:

Consider turning the whole thing into a coop: bust out the interior wall of the housing, then run a longer roost bar lengthwise, roof over the remaining slope on top so the roost bar is roofed over. You can also cover up one or two of the walls if wind is an issue. That will fix your coop space issue as well as give you better ventilation.

A run can be as simple as a dog kennel reinforced with hardware cloth or you can fence off an area with your choice of fencing, just make sure to cover up gaps and openings.
