jennie have you tried flie predator to control the fly problem. sorry about the confusion. when i saw that a child was maced for looking through a fence that just ticked me off. 13 chickens isnt really that many. can you move your coop and pen?
if someone threatened to put poison around my chickens i promise you i would go grizzly on them
like a wild bear cub protecting her cubs.
it really bothers me that people dont understand our love for our animals, and that chickens are more then just food to many

Jennie, if you are concerned that your neighbors are going to hurt your chickens with poison let me know if i can help you. if its a matter of the money to move your coop or pen let me know
i can help you

Oh surely not!! Don't you realize a person has no control over rats and fleas living outside??? she said her yard has fleas. Not her house, her yard.

It saddens me when neighbors can't mind their own business and let people live their lives how they see fit. Why do we insist on telling other people how to live instead of just worrying about how we ourselves are living????

I did not catch on that you are a female dealing with this.

Close your doors, windows and lock them.

Take your chickens to a safe place and your dog too.

I would have a serious talk with the wife of this guy if you say you are friends.

ANY MAN THAT SPEAKS TO A WOMAN IN THIS MANNER NEEDS TO BE REPORTED TO THE AUTHORITIES.

I apologize for my remarks earlier. I had no idea he was battering a woman.

My wife would have this guy in tears by the end of the day, but this is my wife. We call it a red head experience. However, she is armed and dangerous.

I have dealt with idiots like this, you should not have to.

Abolutety no one else needs to be involved except your female nieghbor (his wife) and the authorities.

Again, I apologize. Put some distance between you and your neighbor.

it seems to be almost impossible to keep the flies and bugs away from the chickens and their area. I am having a huge issue with squirrels at the moment. they are always in my pens stealing food. for now i am using food grade DE to try to control some of the bug issues. I have two dogs. I use front line and still find the little creepers. I would ask that man very nicely what it is that he expects her to do short of getting rid of her chickens. if she has to move her pen because he is going to put poison where the chickens are then she has to move her chickens. every state has its own pests issues. here in ca, its pincher bugs and flies. my husband is a ca. lawyer if she needs a letter to be written to the man he will write it for her if that would help. i would brown nose that guy to make sure that he didnt put poison out

The only problem we have with fleas comes from UNTREATED neighbor animals.

We had a really big influx when the next door neighbors with 3 outside-only Boxers moved out. They had a flea problem that kept to their yard because their dogs weren't Frontline'd and mine was. Well when they moved out all those eggs hatched and marched over to my yard. It was hell for about a month!!! Frontline has an insect growth inhibitor, so it prevents baby fleas from maturing and reproducing, so they didn't grow another batch but dang for a week or two it was rough. If you have your own animals treated and the pests under control, the fleas should find somewhere else to live.

If you've got flea problems then you need to DO something more than you are doing.

Try and find some longcrowers lol.

at this time jennie has to figure out if this neighbor is going to put poison near her birds. the only way for her to learn his true intentions is to ask him. everything else is now obsolete. Jennie be very kind and bite your tongue and tell him that your sorry and that you will try to move your birds as soon as you can
