Did McMurray get pecked in the head?

If you can legitimately call yourself an agricultural operation with chickens as an asset to your profit making endeavor, then yes, the loss to predation would be deductible. Probably also the cost to replace the lost pullets. Though you may need to show the latter before deducting the former.

Last year(McMurray) the RIR were 41.50 for 25 straight run.
the buffs & white orp. were 45.00 and so were the buff rocks
the barred rocks were 41.50
these are all stright runs (25)
I have not received a cackle catalog yet

Don't let the started price fool you. The reason why McMurray sells the pullets so high is they have them drop shipped from Meyers.

If your going to buy started pullets from McMurray you better think twice and get them from Meyers. Save yourself $6.00 / bird.

I would LOVE to get chicks from Townline since they're in my state...but they just don't have as many breeds as the other hatcheries.

The breeds they do have are nice, though. I bet a lot of the Michigan members of BYC will probably say the same thing.

Eagle Nest Bantams
Don’t overlook this choice for EXHIBITION quality birds! Each strain of bantams is bred and selected for EXHIBITION. These breeds lay as well as any bantam, but their claim to fame is in the SHOW RING!! We sell our bantams only as straight run, sorry; the sexing is too hard on these delicate chicks! We offer these birds as an assortment of numerous breeds.

Our Breeds include:

Clean Legged: New Hampshire Red, Silver Laced Wyandotte, Partridge Wyandotte, White Crested Black Polish, Blue Breasted Old English, Silver Spangled Hamburg, Black Tailed White Jap, and Golden Seibright

Booted: White Cochin, Black Cochin, Bearded White Silkie, Mille Fleur, Buff Brahma

In both Open shows and Junior shows, these birds are showing strong and finishing strong!
