Last egg in incubator, never had a ton of movement but did eventually pip and move a little today. Hole was big enough where I could see some fur and beak. No movement anymore, no chirping, no breathing.

I took egg out to inspect. I didn’t have it in me to peel all the way. I chipped a few pieces of egg off- used a wet QT to try and touch membrane. Nothing, no signs of life. I could see its fur and beak, I also believe it’s one eye. I was lightly tapping and there was nothing happening in there. This egg is dead I assume?

Sounds like a dud, sorry. If I was you, I would make sure it wasn’t the humidity or anything that killed it, then don’t hatch eggs from that hen anymore. Sometimes things like that just happen, and one reason I don’t hatch eggs from my two mature Rhode Island Red girls is that I incubated 3 of the eggs and all three were fertile, yet one only lived a day and one died in it’s egg. The story has a happy end, because Uno survived, and I got some more chickens from the feed store. One chicken was eaten by a raccoon, but Uno still has 2 flock mates: Brownbeard the Americana and a Plymouth Barred Rock named Frankie. (Short for Frank Beard 😆)
