one of my hens can't move her LEFT leg at all. From my knowledge, I don't think she broke her leg as she's in a cage? her leg doesn't have any signs of swelling or bumble-foot so I don't know what her diagnosis is. I isolated her from the flock and gave her some starter crumble and water, I rubbed some turmeric around her leg to prevent infection. she can eat and drink and slides her belly to get around.

Did you feel it bend it to see if she twinges or pulls back 🤔

Birds have very amazing healing ability. You should be able to feel a clean break with you fingers. Splints do work, if it’s bad enough I have even made slings to keep them suspendes off the ground and they use their good leg to shuffle back and forth along the supension rod for food and water.

If it is not a clean break or just a sprain I would recommend just letting it be. It will instinctively stay off of it and gradually put weight on it as it heals.

I had a raccoon snap one of my turkey poults leg completely in half like 90 degrees off of normal I didn’t have much hope as it looked so bad, but it was a female so I set it and splinted it and suspended it. 3 weeks later it was running around as if nothing happened.

My leghorn broke her leg. We took her to the vet and discovered it was a spiral break.... so bad that it couldn’t be fixed. Watch how her acts. I have learned that one of the main ways they show pain is by sleeping and becoming very lethargic
