Did the most stupidest thing and need urgent advice from experts

Sorry to you and you wife on the passing of your son... hatching is emotional. No apologies necessary.

Another "if it makes you feel better" I had read about not needing to turn the eggs after Day 14 so we tried it. Was only one hatch that we've done it with so far but, we took the eggs out of the turner on Day 15. All eggs that made it to lockdown hatched out just fine.

Even when a hen is on eggs, the humidity around her will change with the weather...it's not like she's hermetically sealed to the nest.

Bet your hatch will be just fine. As long as you had good sized air cells, you won't damage them with an extra day or two of higher humidity. Good luck!

What are you hatching anyway?

Thank you, it was hard for us and felt real weird to come home empty handed but we pulled through, i think it was harder for my Daughter and Son who were very excited about another sibling but just couldnt understand why we came home empty handed.

My wife is again pregnant and expecting in spetmeber and my kids all pray every day that our child will be fine :) god listens to kids prayers

Funny you mention the lockdown at day 14 as i was watching David Attenborough, Life in the Undergrowth just now and i forgot the birds name but it looked like a guinee fowl and they bury their eggs like reptiles do and abandon them so im guessing there is no turning there at all and also the chicks would need to dig out of the sand too so it seems possible to not turn with some species and get a good hatch

Im hatching out pure bred LF Lemon Cuckoo Orpingtons

I also have in another bator Aseels, RIR, BPR and Aylesbury Ducks

Thanks all the paryers we can get will help. every one is very excited especially my daughter

she is 4 years old and so innocent, she said to my wife the other day...

Mum when the baby comes you look after the baby and i will do all the cooking

my heart just melted

btw i found out the bird that buries its eggs

its the Maleo Bird
Maleo - a bird with an unusual reproductive behavior. Instead of creating a nest and incubating the eggs, the adult female buries the eggs in sand, where they are incubated by the heat of the sun. Equally remarkable, when the hatched chick makes its way to the surface, it is fledged and ready to fly!!

Best wishes on your forth coming child! Your family is incubating all over the place. ;o)

Thanks for sharing about the Maleo Bird - beautiful color they have! The babies hatch like sea turtles emerging from the sand...and ready to fly??! Wow.

Slight correction about the hatching eggs...we stopped turning the eggs at Day 15. We kept the normal lockdown schedule and upped the humidity on Day 19.

Nice assortment of hatching eggs. What does an Aylesbury Duck look like?

my Mums says its our 5th Child as i have 3 plus the one passed away and then the one in the oven hehe

i may try this early stop on my next batch and see what my results are like

Aylesbury Ducks were the breed of choice in Aylesbury UK a town in the County of Buckinghamshire England

They where bred by normal backyard keeprs like us no special hatcheries or anything

Bread for 4 main reasons 1. Fast Maturing ready in 8 weeks for meat 2. Feathers used for Downe 3. Very large meat Bird 4. Absolutly Gorgeous taste to it [specially crispy duck]

They come in only white and have a distinct Pink beak and orange Legs and Feet [a yellow beak means its not a Aylebury]

Its popularity dies out when the Pekin Duck was introduced as it was more hardy [when inbred] and cheaper on the feed to meat ratio, although the Aylesbury Pekin Cross did take off too as the pekin taste was no where near as good as the Aylesbury Duck

Me i chose the Aylesbury duck as my breed of choice as i love its size, colour, personality and also not Aylesbury the town but i was born in Buckinhamshire, where i live now was only till 20 odd years ago part of Buckinhamshire and then they split it up a little and gave my area a new name

A small did you know

[The Game Char] Lara Croft [Tomb Raider] is an English Woman that lives in a castle in Buckinghamsire, England ;)
Aylesbury Football Club has the Aylesbury Duck on its Emblem and they are nicknamed "The Ducks"
The Towns Coat of Arms features an Aylesbury Duck
The now Closed Down Brewery in Aylesbury used the Aylebury Duck as their Logo
Jemima Puddle Duck is an Aylesbury Duck
Aylesbury in California USA has a Shopping Center called Duck Farm Park

Although imported in 1840 to USA and never became very popular Aylesbury Duck are included in the American Poultry Association's Standard of Perfection in 1874
and as of 2011 have been listed in USA as Critically Endangered under American Livestock Breeds Conservancy.

Really nice to learn about this breed of duck. And WOW on all the Aylesbury trivia -- esp. now knowing that Jemima duck is an Aylesbury! Are there any other breeds of duck which have a pink bill? Is the pink color recessive when crossed with a duck that has another bill color?

I would agree with your Mum. I did write forth coming not fourth. :o) Anyone you've loved, is counted as family.

as far as im aware the gene is ressesive [Symbol Y]

you would need to cross a pink bill with a pink bill to get it

a bit like the Lav gene

im not sure of any other breed with the pink bill and the aylesbury is usually recognised by it

it has a deep keel and is very heavy which makes is very dangerous for them to mate unless they have very deep water [another reason for it rarety]

Aylesburys can fly but the term is used "like an Albatros" which means they seldom fly as they need a very long run way for taking off and landing like the albatros

they are best kept in Trios 2 Ducks to 1 Drake and will go broody [if you can succesfully mate them with out a Vet trip]

BTW still no pip this morning
