Ok. Thank you, I appreciate the guidance. It can stay in for at least 24 hours without needing to come out. Even 48 hours won't hurt it. Whenever you feel like you can't take it any longer, you can take it out.
Oh yeah, how eggciting!!!! That’s so awesome that you and your kids got to watch the keet hatch!!! Your keet might go a little crazy trying to find siblings/mom; if that happens, I cover the plastic windows with a towel so it’s dark to calm it down. It’s probably best to leave it so you don’t have one keet sitting alone in a brooder going nuts! Congratulations!!!!One hatched! Should I wait till the others hatch before taking it out? I know I need to leave it till it dries, but beyond that I don’t know how long to leave him in. Lol I’m so excited! My kids and I got to watch the whole thing! Oh, wow. This one is due within a couple of days.
Agree with R2elk that this egg will hatch very soon. It’s already “drawn down”, giving you a big, oddly shaped air cell, which is normal right before the internal pip. Here are a few pics I took 24 hr before the keets hatched! No progress overnight. Little one hasn’t fully fluffed up yet. I’m still waiting and hoping another will hatch today so I can move two instead of just the one.
My broody girls left the nest this morning so I popped in to get pictures of a couple eggs in hopes that you guys might be able to help me determine how close to hatch they might be.
They seem pretty close to me. Air cells are big and eggs are very dark. View attachment 2171321View attachment 2171322View attachment 2171323
For sure they aren’t due to hatch the same time as the ones I have going now, but do you think these might be ready to go next week?
