Did we get the wrong chick??

We went to our feed store a month ago and purchased black sex links. I know there can be some leakage but is this a black sex link Cockerel or did someone mess up the bin and we have an interloper in our midst??

I've seen sex links with tons of leakage but never to this degree. That's why I'm wondering if it was in the wrong bin...

I think it is a black sex link, and a pullet. Male BSLS are barred like female barred rocks.

Hatcheries, are pumping chicks out right now, any quality they had is likely hitting the fan.

Valid point. Like I said I'm familiar with color leakage because one of our bsl hens has a bit of it in her shoulders but this one was like wait what?? She was completely black like everyone else and then poof to where she's at now which was starting to make me wonder if she might have been an easter egger. Even then the only egger I have that was jet black as a chick is an F1 olive egger and she's jet black and looks exactly like our MM marans. She runs around and lays where they do or I wouldn't be able to tell the difference unless I stared at feet (she's clean legged).

She might be anything, but she looks like a she, currently.

That's what my mom said lol. She's calling her ginger. I was looking for pics of adult bsl hens with a ton of leakage and found one that looked absolutely stunning.
