Did you glue your vinyl flooring to the bottom of the coop?

Like other folks, I used the self-advesive tiles, on the floor and 12 inches up the wall. I caulked the seams where the wall and floor meet. I also nailed them down with wire brads. The installation took place a few weeks before the coop was used, so the solvent smell was gone before the chickens were in. Yes, a shovel is tough on the flooring. I have a full sheet of linoleum on reserve for when I need to replace.

I haven't considered nailing it, sounds like a good idea to me. I am also considering putting a drain in the floor (it's made of stockade fence pickets). I made the coop with the deep litter method in mind. I want to be able to hose it out once a year and not have water standing in the bottom to soak up the insulation or wood planks. Anybody have an opinion or idea?

Chicken USA _ I would be carefull about leaving gaps in the floor. It may give rats/mice enough room to chew/crawl through. I put mine very close together and there's hardware cloth under that. Then I caulked the boards. I'm a little varmint phobic!

havent you all think about horse rubber mats? Those things take the shovel like no tomorrow. Or recycle those rubber belts or feeders that you can find them in elevator shops.

I love my rubber mats! Much more durable than lino.

I glued my vinyl down on my 10x6 coop and nailed 2x3s to the walls on top of the vinyl around the perimeter. Then I caulked where the 2x3 meets the vinyl flooring. It makes the floor water proof and very easy to clean with a hose or mop. Works great.

I got the self sticking vinyl tiles, but i still spread a think layer of glue and glued them down even though they were self adhesive.

we did. its a great idea, clean up water etc. is much easier. I bought the rolled kind and used the tube of glue (forget what you call it.) oh wait, hard as nails that you squezze out. terrible brain this morning, sorry. anyways, I put lots of heavy rocks ontop so it would stay in place.
