Pretty close, I think. At that rate it costs me over $100 US per month to feed my chickens, and I'm only getting about 58 eggs per week, mostly bantam. I can't afford that.

You able to free-range them any? I haven't tried to crunch any numbers, but free-ranging has to cut the feed bill, at least a little.

I only have about 12 hens in lay, and some of those just went broody. Once my older pullets start laying it should become more cost-friendly to keep them.

They're free ranged all day. I shudder to think of how much feed I'm going to use in winter if I can't reduce numbers.

Did you know that both duck and Jane have been molting and have lost their flight feathers and it looks really funny when they flap their little nubs at me? Lol
