Did you know..... Chat Thread! W/ Hosts: DwayneNLiz, kwhites634, BantyChooks, MotorcycleChick, C

Did you know that I agree, too early to think that one through.

Did you know that I had a terrible dream last night about a gigantic cockroach that was in my bedroom. It was the flying kind and all of you were there, only it wasn't your faces on your bodies, it was you "avi" pics on your bodies? It was rather disturbing. Someone kept yelling, "you just need a bigger chicken to eat it". @Sally Sunshine

Okay, i'm a bad girl. I ordered 6 ducks, straight run from metzer farms, 2 female welshes, and 2 white layers... I figure I'll get a couple of males out of the straight run, and I'm getting a khaki cambell, and swedish blue from the 2 that got shipped yesterday... so that should be 10 ducks (the guy thinks it's a girl/boy based on how noisey they were in the box.) but we'll see. I think this way i'll get enough boys if I want fertile duck eggs later, all should be edible, good layers and nice calm ducks.

Since I'll have plenty of broody chickens around to raise babies, I'll probably eventually build a couple of broody pens for my mom's to hatch ducks, geese, or chickens for me later down the road. I've enjoyed incubator them though... so we will see.

I didn't tell my husband I bought them, i'm just going to slip them into the duck brooder when they get here in a couple weeks.... do you think he'll notice?

I think that you are playing on a very thin line of thrust here.
IMHO he should be notified and you 2 should come to a common ground about where all this operation is going!
You are talking about a substantial number of birds that will need a substantial investment of time and money! And if I am reading him correctly he objects to your new birds on this basis. So you should tell him, it isn't a game.

Oh, no he knows. lol I just didn't tell him before I ordered from metzer farms. He was expecting a bunch of ducks, but only 2 got shipped in our original order. He's okay with me getting more, since I can't eat chicken eggs. :p

I was mostly joking. I don't do anything with out informing him.

I have a separate account for all the birds and animals that I put money into, and I can spend it how I wish lol

Did you know that he's the one who makes all the housing for all the animals? So he *always* knows :p
