It's a mental block... Stoopid, I know.... But I feel bad if I have the neighbours shoot skunks that were trying to get into my coop, much less actually picking up a bird and killing it.... :/

I'm okay with already dead things but I've got a mental block over killing something with my own hands.... Like I'm betraying them somehow. I will get over it eventually. Just gotta cowgirl up & tell myself the chook ends up dead whether I do it myself or buy it at the store....

I had to put down a chick once... It was.... Not something I like to think about.

I will tell you a secret: my DH or my dad kill all the birds for me. I'll pluck and gut them, but I cannot bring myself to end them. when I have chicks that need culling, I have called my dad to come over and take care of it as I cried in the next room. Does that make me a bad breeder?
