The Jelly bean story and the dart story remind me of an event that would drive me nuts as a parent/grandparent.
My youngest brother is 8 years younger than I am. When he turned 5 my Mom wanted to give him a birthday party. Living out here in the sticks the parties were small and not huge events.
My other brother (2 years younger than me) and myself planned a game based on what we had seen at the County fair. You know where they throw darts at balloons and breaking them gives a prize...
We hung a bunch of balloons up on the wall. Then we pushed a stick pin through the dart tip of a dart for a dart gun..
My Cousin was 4, my brother gave her the dart gun with the pin and showed her where to shoot it by standing near and pointing to the balloon. She shot and the dart ended up stuck in my brother forehead between his eyes.
Even my mother had enough sense to put a stop to that game then.....BTW My mother was not the most "Motherly" of mothers......
