Did You Know...

I usually wear at least sunglasses in the coop and run. They’ve only pecked at my face two or three times, though they do like to peep the safety goggles. And yes, they love to check out any rings or watches. And hair, they love to touch my hair...

Part of the reason for allowing the jungle gym behavior is that I didn’t handle them enough as chicks, so they are very resistant to being picked up. They are slowly getting used to touching and being touched (especially the SLW on my shoulder). When they touch me, I touch them... Once they are used to being handled, I’ll taper off the high perching and the hopping up on my back every time I bend over to fill the feeder. In the meantime, other than the freckle-pecking, we are all having a good time!

I got pecked in the eye. It started to burn and tearing within a couple of minutes.
I washed it under running water a few minutes. I also had a bottle of eye wash with eye cap.
Several times a day of using the eye wash and the burning stopped after two days.
I learned my lesson. GC

Ouch!! Most of the time, the pecks are the gentle “exploratory” pecks. Not always...

Our girls love shoe laces and if my feet are bare, my toes. Especially if they're polished.
I wear glasses, saved me from being pecked in the eye once. Same girl managed to pull out an earring too, thank goodness she didn't eat it!
