Did you use it for your chickens?

I use the Mama Heating pad also. Brooded 6 egg layer chicks and 4 Jumbo Cornish meat birds out in the barn and it worked great. They feathered out really quick and have had no problems with the cold temps. I really recommend that method - it can be used outside so the chick mess (poo smell, feather dust, etc) stays out of the house.

I used one with my ducklings. They liked it, but spent as much time sat on the top (pooping) as they did underneath it. They soon got too large for it, so I had to go onto a heatlamp, but the heatlamps cost a LOT more to run

I've used the one in the OP. Works great. Instead of buying the plastic "pyramid" to go on top to keep the chicks off, I just used Press N Seal and changed it occasionally. If I'd known about the MHP before I bought the plate, I probably would've used that instead. Either one is better than a heat lamp, IMO.

I really want one but I'm saving up to finish my house. I am told by several people they work amazingly and you don't have that burn everything to the ground fear as you do with heat lamps.

Check TSC, maybe ours isn't the only one with this for sale. I passed it up but may go back and see if it's still there. Too small for me but what a deal.
