Didn't want to collect this egg!

We relocated him to the other side of the yard. I'm sure I will see him again. I don't mind losing a couple of eggs here and there to him as long as he keeps other vermin away. We have never seen a rat or mouse in our chicken coops, but have seen him 3 times now. From what I can tell, he got 3 eggs yesterday, so he should be full.

I don't think he made it through the night......

It must be the season for the bigger spiders (I call them 'wolf' spiders). They're SOOOO gross - especially when you smack 'em dead with a fly swater - if you're not careful you will catch spider-spray from the minor explosion.

Last night I had all sorts of visitors on my screen door - blocking my quickest route to the chickens. Two wolf spiders and 1 beautiful (but slightly creepy) praying mantis.

Around here the rat snakes are black...? Did you ever figure out exactly what he is? Glad to hear you relocated and didn't kill him... They are good to have around as long as they aren't eating your chickens or other pets!

Ugh I hate them all nasty beasts! I know they serve a purpose, but they can do it on YOUR farm, not mine! A few days ago I was rigging up an area for one of my new birds and scraping together this and that, I grabbed a piece of wood but apparently didn't look as close as I thought I did because when I set it down there were 2 black widows on it

I used the hammer to send them back to hell and got spider juice squirted on me

I was done with the chickens for the day after that.
