I just realized I derailed my own thread. I OP'd to ask about a *cockerel.* Then this thread went sideways as I focused on discussion about Mike, my dominant roo. Thanks to the comments here and my own experience, I have cast a very beady eye on the cockerel this thread was initially about, and my conclusion is, he's headed to freezer heaven as well. The young pullets don't go to bed as early as they'd like because he lies in wait for them at the door to try and jump on them. He's way randier than they are. So yeah. Dumplings. Tomorrow.

Yes, of course. I just meant action will be taken to protect the pullets from this, er, single-minded cockerel ASAP. Not that I would cook and eat him immediately.

Not sure which is more satisfying....slaughter or eating...or the peace that suddenly reigns between....it's all good!
