Difference between runners and not

This is super helpful, as I am almost 100% certain that I was calling it the wrong name!!! I think what I had is what you called a chocolate runner!! My sister on the other hand for sure had a Khaki Campbell drake, because he looked JUST like the second picture!! That made it super easy to tell, thank you!

Glad it helped. The khaki Campbell is my female. I had a khaki Campbell Drake, but needed to rehome him. They get a green head.

Do most runners tend to be on the more skittish/nervous side??

I find the runners to be the most skiddish breed I have. But they can still be very social. Mine are always happy to eat treats out of my hands. They are the first ones to follow my husband in hopes he will let them out and forage just on the other side of the fence. A lot of it is how you raise them, but overall they seem to be most skiddish breed I have.

You are talking about them in the past tense. What happened to them.

Our sweet duckies got stolen. We live in a place where they were slightly visible, and they came up missing. No feathers, no signs of anything happened to them. The only conclusion we can figure out is they got stolen.

I personally have found them more skittish and nervous. We hand feed our ducks and they are usually the longest to get use to us, last to walk up to up and seem very jumpy. That’s just my experience with them. Ducks are funny though they never follow the “norm” so someone else’s flock could be the complete opposite that im saying

They did seem more skittish to us as well!! But our current Cayugas are skittish too, and our Pekins are super friendly. Both got as 2-3 days old and handled frequently!! I don’t understand the silly quackers!

A lot of predators will not leave behind a trace. No feathers or sign of struggle etc. very odd for someone to steal ducks. Not impossible but more than likely they became prey. If you get any more make sure you are locking them up safe at night. Ensuring their enclosure has no gaps or ways for predators can get in

Our babies stay up at night now, so as to not take any chances!!!

Oh I’m sorry to hear that. Not every ducky is the right fit!! I’m sure you have beautiful flocks regardless!!
