Differences EE, Ameraucana, & Araucana * Pls post pics*

Pics

There has obviously been much discussion on these "colorful layers". I am new to BYC and going on my second season raising chickens. Last year I bought 8 RIR and they are amazing little layers. So this year I wanted some colorful eggs and just a different variety in general so I bought 8 of the cuties in the pic and they are super happy. They were marketed as "Aracaunas-Americauna strain". Did they just use the names because people know those species and they are in fact just "EE mutts"? I don't much care as I just like doing it for the eggs and fun with my 7 year old daughter. But I'm curious to what you folks with much more experience think. Btw they do have tiny little tails. Thanks all!
Yes, indeed. More of a crossbreed than a mutt.
They can be great birds.
Each one may lay a different colored egg.....blue, green, pink, brown.
Each one may also have different plumage.
Pea combs and/or beards/muffs may indicate a blue egg gene.
Not all Araucana are tailless.
Welcome to BYC!

Depends on where you are....

The US standard only accepts rumpless birds. The British standard accepts both. The Australian standard only accepts tailed birds. In most of the world beards and muffs are required - in the USA they're a disqualification. (ear tufts are required pretty much everywhere)

The breed standard is kind of a mess.

The Ameracauna breed was created from a combination of Aracaunas and Easter Eggers - as an attempt to remove the fatal tuft gene from Aracaunas and produce a more productive bird - they were referred to as "Improved Aracaunas" at one point. So in fact, the EE isn't the mutt - the Ameracauna is.

I'm new to raising chicken and I live in the UK. The lil lady below was sold to me as an araucana...so is she or is she an EE? Must admit I'm confused now.

This is the first egg she laid earlier this year. She reminds me of Tina turner!!

I am trying to buy some local Ameraucana chicks and have contacted some breeders. I am not sure if the following birds are really purebred although they are telling me they are... Can you help? Are they just colour variations that aren't to standard, or does that always mean they are EE?
what colour is he? he looks like he has the muffs and beard and legs and comb.
i am asking for more pix of these two's faces. i am hopeful...

?
no beards on some hens and his is plucked out?
black face hen seems proper but is this "brown red" variety incorrect?

Those are Easter Eggers. And Brown Reds are supposed to be the same coloring as Black Copper Marans.
Take a look at this gallery to familiarize yourself with what the recognized varieties look like.

ok. So if the colouring isn't like the "standard" it has to be a mix breed? not just abnormal colouring?
Forgot to say thank you! Thanks :)
