Different Bumblefoot

Today she was fiesty and seemed better, just personality wise and overall. She was just like herself from before all of this started. I still need to get her out of the duck house tonight and change bandaging. I just couldn't do it before locking her up and securing everyone for the night, as my daughter has so kindly shared her stomach virus with me. I am hoping this Zofran will kick in very soon because merely breathing makes this nausea worse. I will get a picture to update how it looks. Do you think it will be a problem if I wait to change her bandages in the morning? If I need to do it tonight, I will. She's had her meds already. I can't thank you enough for your help. I am so grateful for everything you've done to help me help Honey and you also helped me help my other duck's end of Toe bumblefoot, not too long ago. I'm almost positive hers was caused by a thorn. I am so grateful and can't thank you enough

Oh, no, sorry to hear that! Hope you get better soon! :hugs

Don't worry about the bandage too much, I've seen the recommended Bumblefoot bandage "swap out time" anywhere from 24 to 72 hours in my vet books, so you're fine.

You're sweet, I'm glad I could be of help.

Thank you so much for asking. I am still working on getting a small bit of the hardened pus out but her crater that was left after the initial clean out looks much better. Unfortunately, her bandage somehow moved up her foot/ankle/leg and it had some debris on the wound. The pad was a little pink. I cleaned it with peroxide (I know that's not good to use but I didn't have anything else on hand this evening and a bad storm was moving in quickly), rinsed with Bannix spray, then applied a thick layer of medihoney and neosporine and bandaged her foot back up. I'll be checking her foot a lot more often now that I know the bandage may possibly shift. I thought wrapping around and leaving her toe exposed would help stabilize the bandage. There is no telling with that silly duck. I feel bad but all I can do is learn from it and move forward with continued better treatment. I'm going to pick up some vetericyn and hibiclens (? Sp?) from TSC tomorrow. Anything else you'd recommend I pick up for her? Thank you for checking on her. I really appreciate you

I've read a lot about this stuff, from what I hear it's pretty good so if you want to give it a try, go for it, its call DMSO cream, it's used in humans and animals for

" DMSO is used topically to decrease pain and speed the healing of wounds, burns, and muscle and skeletal injuries. DMSO is also used topically to treat painful conditions such as headache, inflammation, osteoarthritis, rheumatoid arthritis, and severe facial pain called tic douloureux"

How is the swelling on her feet?

I am placing my order at TSC now. They have it in stock so I'll be picking it up in a couple of hours. Thank you!
The swelling was looking a lot better until this recent incident with her foot being exposed to everything. That caused the swelling to return. I planned on giving the new product that I'm picking up today a couple of days and if the swelling persist, look into another round of antibiotics. I'll update you before hand and share pictures with you to see what you think, if that's OK.

How is she doing?
Thank you so much for asking. Unfortunately I've had to start treating her foot again. I feel soooo bad for her, but she doesn't complain at all until it's time for me to change her bandage and soak her foot. We had a few slip ups that sent any and all progress backwards. Somehow her bandage would ride up her foot and end up around her ankle with the area exposed. I'm trying to find a supplier to purchase some boots for her. I feel like that is what's needed. For now, I'm wrapping almost to the end of her toes (leaving tips of toes exposed for scratching and whatnot) and that's helping to keep the bandage from riding up. Im also doing all of the duck chores myself so I can keep a close eye on her throughout the day and night. I shouldn't have depended on anyone else to do any of this since her foot wasn't healed, but it won't happen again. Thank you for asking about Honey. I am determined to get her foot well, no matter what. She deserves that.
