If you have a combination of large, and very small eggs in a nest would the large eggs prevent the the hens body from being close enough to incubate the small eggs?

No it won't affect them in the nest. In the incubator is where the problem lies. The hen will make do and keep them all warm, just like they can set on 1-15 or more eggs with no problems. They will adapt

I had fine luck in the incubator with different sized eggs, but bad luck with different sized eggs under my hen. I had 7 eggs under her of different sizes. Only one large egg hatched and only two smalls.

A friend told me they can just have trouble with different sizes, like extra large to large with smalls.

I always had poor hatches when I tried mixing different sizes of eggs under hens. I don't do that any more.
