Are there different types of ringneck pheasants? I've seen some that seem to have dark breasts and some with light breasts. Is this just normal variations in a species or is it different types of ringnecks? Any pictures would be great.

Not only are there color variations or mutations, there are different races of ringnecks, such as Korean, Manchurian, Chinese, Mongolian and several I'm probably missing. They vary in plumage characteristics. Most ringnecks here in the US are a mix of several races and can show considerable differences in plumage. ie, neck band width, rump coloration, white eye line, shoulder coloration etc.

True Pheasants: (RINGNECKS) many subspecies of wild ringnecks, a few are:
Chinese
Versicolor
Japanese Green (Northern, Southern, Pacific)
Blacknecked
White Winged
Kirghiz
Manchurian
Etc.

Domestic Mutations:
Chinese Jumbo
White Jumbo
Green
Black
White
Alaskan Snow
Blue Alaskan Snow
Buff Isabel
Buff
Red Buff
Chinese Pied
Green Pied
Buff Pied
Blackneck
Platinum
Chocolate
Blue
Blue Pied
Silver
Ivory

I just got a trio of ringnecks this past weekend. Wow, they are beautiful birds. I have always wanted some since I was a little boy. I'm like a kid with a new toy.

Congrad's!
I can see your not a newbee to the poultry world, but I started with a pair of Ringnecks many years ago and now I have Goldens, Amherst, Greens,.......etc.etc.
You see where this is leading, don't you!!!
