This is my first post and the reason I made my account. Basically one of my hens is suffering from bumblefoot that she got while roaming around. My hens aren't used to being picked up since I never had to. They spend their time roaming around a huge yard and tree area so they don't often interact with me. I can pick up the sick hen if I corner her and she calms down once I hold her, but if I try to do something like put a towel around her she freaks out and escapes. I am trying to use a soaking method for her bumble but I am unsure if I would be able to wiggle out the bumble and dress it without her freaking out. I don't want her to get infected through the small hole.
Do you guys have any suggestions to calm her enough to get her on her side for the procedure? Is there something like a certain food or sound that calms them?
If not, a suggestion to help bond with a chicken to get her calm with being held would help.

Also once I have the hen inside, after treating her, I keep her in a small cage, so I can treat her foot several times a day and keep an eye on her. This also keeps her from getting her foot injured too. In the past my hens with this issue loved the soaking in Epsom Salt and warm water - they settled right down. We called it her pedicure...

Maybe leave the bandage on for a couple days. I recall @dawg53 (I think thats who it was)mentioning in a post to repeat after a few days if it doesn't look like it's healing, if it is healing clean, coat, and rebandage. Hope your hen gets better soon.

Thank you everyone. I fed her some food from my hand while she was in the coop and now she seems to trust me again. I think taking her while she roosts and wrapping the towel will work. Thank you guys very much, I was super worried.
