So my girls have dug a hole underneath their feeder. Its maybe an inch or so deep, and its a perfect circle shape. I thought they were just digging up food they dropped. But I've noticed one of my girls laying in it. In fact, she seem quite perturbed at me when I disturbed her lol. Is it normal for her to just be laying in the dirt? They are 19 weeks and I think they are getting ready to lay.

Oh, it's a chicken law that the dirt spa has to be anywhere but where humans want them to do it.

Just be glad they aren't doing it along the fence boarder.

Ask me how I know. LOL I'd just move the feed. You could fill that hole a thousand times and it equates to filling the pool for the kiddies.

They have dug a bit around the post closest to the feeder.

When my girls dig a hole in their yard, along the fence, I place a big rock over the hole. Or you could use a log, piece of board, large gravel, whatever. They will find someplace else to dig. Eventually, it will be somewhere appropriate.
