I was watching a video and this guy did something I have never seen done before, after hand pollinating he took a zip tie and put it around the flower of the female. He said he did this to keep bees from pollinating the female with a different type of pollination from a different male. Made a lot of sense to me. Have you ever done that? I am going to try it next year.

I am well aware of this practice. No I have not done so and currently don't have any such plans. I briefly considered doing so with the female Whopper blossom but decided it was more important to have a pollinated blossom than which pollen made it in on some bees.

In the case of the Dill's Giant Atlantic that I pollinated with a male Big Moose blossom last year there was no need for concern because it was the only female blossom and the Big Moose blossom was the only male blossom at the time.
