Food grade DE is good for using in the coop, on the chickens and on occasion in their food. Now I'm confused. Is DE good for chickens? After a family bonfire, I always dump the ashes into the back corner of the yard as the chickens love to bathe in it and lately I've been dumping a few cups of DE in with the ash as I thought it was good for them. Am I wrong? We get a lot of snow here in Minnesota and since their dust bath options will be limited for the next 5 months, I was thinking of dumping DE into a tub to allow them to bath in it during the winter months. Here is the kind I use: http://www.redlakeearth.com/de-products.html

Here is a link to the National Pesticide Information Center with some good info on DE: www.npic.orst.edu/factsheets/degen.htmlNow I'm confused. Is DE good for chickens?
