My Silkie roo Brett Michaels and 3 of his ladies all in a dustbath pile... It was so beautiful today, they were making little dustbowls all over the yard!
Most houses here in New Orleans are raised off the ground, and that makes the perfect place to take a nice dirt bath! Here are my girls enjoying the simpler things in life
My girls love to bath! They have holes dug all over the yard. It sure cleaned out the weeds and quackgrass from under some of the trees that had been hard to weed! Yah! Way to go girls!
Once when I had my chicks at work for my coworkers to admire, someone came up to me, all concerned, and said "Your chickens keep falling over!" They were trying to dustbathe in some spilled feed. It was SO cute!
My current clutch was covered with shavings in their bathroom brooder; dustbathing already at 2 weeks old
I know I already posted some, but my banty Silver Phoenix took a break from her egg clutch this morning to take a dust bath in one of the dustbowls my silkies made yesterday

My girls wanted to dustbathe at a tender age, too! It was adorable. I went to the pet store to pick up some sterile sand for them, thinking I'd give them a little tray of it in their brooder. Unfortunately they only had the garishly colored stuff for reptile tanks, etc., which I was not interested in. But when the owner asked for what type of animal I wanted sand and I told her chicks, she gave me this look like I was crazy and said "Chicks don't dustbathe." "Mine do!!" I replied.
Here are my girls lined up in one of their favorite spots.
I also love how they get into a little dustbathing coma.
