I now have 7/8 chicks hatched and in my brooder, and I have heard from some people that I should be putting dirt/gravel in with the chicks so that they can digest their food? Is this true or will the chicks be fine w/o the gravel?

If you are only feeding chick starter they don't need the grit. However, I'm a big fan of giving chicks clumps of sod from the area they will ultimately live in starting at 3 to 4 days old to help them build their immune systems.

Thanks, I will try and do this!
