lately when I go out to get eggs they are very dirty (poop covered). I bring them in wipe off with a damp paper towel and get what I can off. Can you still use these eggs to hatch or not recommended?

Also, I have 2 doz eggs in cartons at room temp with the fat parts up. The eggs are week to a week and a half old. How long is too long to sit on the counter when you want to try and hatch some?

Thanks,
Adam

I don't let mine sit on counter over a week if I want to hatch.
I wouldn't recommend using really really dirty ones to hatch either. Now if you have eggs your going to hatch make sure not to wash or get them wet. They have a protective bloom on them and that needs to stay on there.

HI Adam. Yes, you can use pooped on eggs, as long as you dry wiped them, no water as you could rinse the bloom off. You can try and hatch the 10 days old eggs but, keep in mind, the older the egg the less chance it has for hatching.

I will eat the eggs then. I have gotten them all wet. So if the bloom is wiped off the egg will not hatch or maybe have problems developing? This will be my first time hatching eggs. Just want to make sure I know what to do before I start

Attached is a photo. Two eggs side by side are dirty that I dry wipes the best I could. The darker one was very clean no wiping involved. Would you experts try hatching or wait for more clean ones?
