Dirty pen!

Hello! I have 2 ducks and they are semi-free range. I have a large fenced in area with their coop inside. Any ideas on how to keep the ground in the pen clean/dry and smelling nice? It’s very muddy, lots of poop and stinky. I put them in their coop at night and the food and water stays outside in fence.

What is the substrate? I use soft wood shavings on more than half of my run, which I scoop at least a couple times a day and replenish, and pea gravel around their pond, which I hose off a couple times a day. Ducks are so messy, it just takes a lot of work to keep their area clean.

Wood shavings inside coop but it’s the open ground inside the fence that is so messy

Probably putting a roof on is the only way you're going to keep it dry. Then you can scoop the poop on a regular basis.

Yeah you prolly gonna have to try to find some wood chips but ducks are a messy bird.
