One of my three hens has a pasty butt. I decided to clean her up today and I took warm water soaked paper towels with dish soap on them and scrubbed it off and then rinsed with warm water. While I was cleaning her I noticed her vent looks a little red and swollen. And I have noticed that there was a little bit of blood on one of eggs I got yesterday. Not very much at all. Just a little smear. But I did watch her yesterday for a few minutes and noticed when she pooped she fluffed up her feathers and acted like it was a strain to do. But she is not showing any weird signs. She is still laying, eating and drinking. Comb is still red. I didnt know what was going on.

you can try some probotics in her water to see if that helps her pasty butt. i have a pullet that had pasty butt and i used probios probotics powder in the water its good for the rest of the flock also. in three days her poop was back to normal. assuming its only pasty butt and nothing else is going on. the pribiotic gives good bacteria and fights the bad.its really great stuff.I'd give it a try. it worked wonderfully for me! best wishes.i use the chicken or animal pro biotic not human kind. you can find it online or maybe feed store. i like probios but any animal pro biotic will be good.
