If you don’t find them as much as it sucks it could be a fox. They don’t always leave feathers and if they do it’s usually only a couple.I have only seen them try to fly up about two feet

What a stumper...I have only seen them try to fly up about two feet
Your right, some of my chickens can clear a five and a half foot fence. They could have been spooked and when that flight or fight response kicks in they will not likely fight. They can get up and over a fence easier than you think. My two month olds flew over a 3 foot fence , they flew up another 5 feet to roost atop a succulent under my patio. Perhaps before dusk ,look for them perhaps up a tree or well concealed under brush.
No I didn't hear a thing neither did my three dogs who are alert to every noise. I really doubt they flew out.Did your chickens sound off when it happened?
Hi,
Today somewhere between 12 -3pm two of my seven chickens(8 mo old) disappeared without a trace. They were both molting so I would think if anything was to grab them there would be feathers everywhere however no feathers were found. There is no way they could get out of their enclosure. Its 4 ft high. Its a mystery to me. I have looked all over for them. ???????
It could have been a fox however there would have to be feathers everywhere. No feathers were found. No Bobcats or Coyotes that I am aware of in the area.Coyote, fox, or bobcat are the likely opportunists. Be on guard as whatever it was it will return.
No there wouldn’t. I’ve watched a fox run off with a chicken and not a single feather dropped. It could have been a fox however there would have to be feathers everywhere. No feathers were found. No Bobcats or Coyotes that I am aware of in the area.
