Disappearing nine patch block swap

Block color placement is as follows: row one: purple green purple, row two: green, cream, green, row three: purple green purple
so the purple will be at the four corners and the greens will be in between the purples and the creamy yellow will be in the middle.

Colors are violets, light purples, med purples and greens with a light creamy yellow for the center block.

The tutorial for this block can be found at the following link.

You will not cut the 9 patch, the block cutting will be done by you when you receive your blocks, just sew the individual squares together

We will need to make 24 blocks. Due date will be April 15th.

A question. Is everyone going to put your purples on the corners or does it matter? Bought my fabric this evening. Was a little disappointed in the selection joanns had. Not a lot of purples or greens. Took me at least an hour to select fabric. Looking forward to getting started! Probably Monday. My daughter's baby shower is tomorrow. 5 1/2 weeks to go!!!!

Fenrosie~your colors are delightful!
Hi!

As for color lay out it is important to have colors, yellow, greens and purples and color placement within the block as described in order to get a secondary pattern.

Wasn't there a link somewhere that someone posted of a finished quilt using the Disappearing 9-Patch? I need to see it.

I just found out that one of my younger brother's favorite colors is purple. Put that together with the Quilt-n-Bee newletter I got yesterday that showed a quilt kit entitled "Cancer Cannot..." that were all sold out already and you know what I'm going to do with my quilt.

My brother has been diagnosed with Oral Squamous (something or other) cancer. It is in such a place that the traditional chemo/radiation treatment results and side effects are terribly severe so he is trying to do everything he can with alternative methods. I want to figure out a way to design my own "Cancer Cannot" quilt using these blocks and printing on fabric some words of comfort and encouragement and hope for him. I'm hoping to be able to go and visit him in March some time and I know this quilt isn't due until April but I'm really hoping it will be finished before then and I can get it all put together for him to go in time with me.

If not, its no big deal, I will just get a few fat quarters and make another one just for him.

I'd still like to be able to see that finished quilt.... Anna 6, was it yours?

For Lacey Blues- Not my quilt but I sure like it.

Here is a picture some one used Kansas Trouble line with a center black square to make the disappearing nine patch. It also looks like darker squares were used for the corners and lighter for the in between squares with a black square in the center.
